Application Procedures

Prospective students are required to send separate packets of application materials to the University's Graduate College and to the School of Architecture. Please pay careful attention to the procedures described below.  Applications cannot be processed until all materials have been received, and a delay in processing may result in a missed application deadline. 

Application deadlines for summer (M.Arch III only)  or Fall 2010 enrollment:
     Domestic applicants:       February 1, 2010
     International applicants:  January 1, 2010


Step 1: Apply for admission to graduate standing at The University of Arizona

The UA Graduate College's online application site allows users to submit an application online or download a printable application form to be mailed later.  It also provides other forms and important information regarding graduate admissions at the UA.


Step 2: Gather the following materials and mail them to the University address given below:

   Domestic applicants:

  • Application fee of $75 (payable online if applying online)
  • Completed application form (not required if applying online)
  • Domicile affidavit (pdf), if claiming Arizona residency for tuition purposes

   International applicants:

  • Application fee of USD$75 (payable online if applying online)
  • Completed application form (not required if applying online)
  • Official TOEFL scores

NOTE:   The information in the section below will change.  Please postpone the submission of CD-R listed below until this warning disappears.  Although the material required will remain substantially the same, its format and manner of submission will be revised.  Feel free to go ahead with Steps 1 and 2 any time.  You may also mail all materials when ready,  except for the CD-R . 

Step 3: Gather the following materials for submission to the UA School of Architecture at the address given below:

Domestic applicants:

  • Photocopy of the application form that was sent to the UA Graduate College (not required if applying online)
  • CD-R containing a single pdf document that includes the following files:   
              1. Portfolio
              2. Résumé
              3. Personal statement
              4. Names and contact information for three referral sources
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

International applicants:

  • CD-R containing a single pdf document that includes the following files:
              1. Portfolio
              2. Résumé
              3. Personal statement
              4. Names and contact information for three referral sources
  • Photocopy of application form that was sent to the UA Graduate College (not required if applying online)
  • Certified copy of your degree certificate, with official English translation.  If your degree certificate it not immediately available, you may bring the original or a certified copy of the original with you if you are admitted to the Graduate College.  However, your continuing status as a student will be conditional on producing the original or certified copy of the certificate during your first semester at The University of Arizona.
  • Copy of TOEFL scores.  Unofficial copies of these score reports may be used for preliminary application review by the School of Architecture, but admission cannot be finalized until the official scores reach the Graduate College and are posted on your application record.
