William Wenk is a landscape architect and founder of Wenk Associates, Inc., a Denver-based landscape architectural firm. For the past 25 years, his firm has been involved in a wide range of projects that focus on the restoriation of urban streams and the integration of stormwater into public parks and open spaces. Wenk's current work includes a master plan for the reclamation of the 32-mile Los Angeles River corridor in California, "green infrastructure" planning and implementation for the redevelopment of abandoned railyards and restoration of the Menomonee River in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, flood control and water quality management for a new 1,000-acre mixed-use community in Ankeny, Iowa, and restoration of Bubbly Creek in Chicago, Illinois.
Wenk has lectured nationally and internationally on the creative use of urban stormwater. His firm's work has been published frequently in national and international professional journals and has won numerous regional and national design awards. He currently serves as a member of a committee evaluating the effectiveness of stormwater quality regulations for the National Water Science and Technology Board. Wenk is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects. His presentation is titled "Designing the Natural City".
